All about that BASE!!

November 23, 2016

So my dears a question I am asked daily what foundation do you use in your kit? what is the BEST foundation?

So I thought I would create an informative post on the foundations I carry and my reasons for having them!

Firstly I would like to say there are a million and one excellent foundations out there, the ones I have are ones I researched and carried out lots of testing before I decided they were kit-worthy.

Also I mainly re-purchase the same one's over and over as they're tried, tested and loved!

My main criteria looking for kit foundations is longevity, photogenic (Many foundations are beautiful but unfortunately not under the camera lens and thats a big no no for me) Coverage for the girls who love it and light-weight foundations for those who aren't so much into lots of coverage or generally don't wear make up.

Starting with the lightest weight

Bare Minerals Complexion rescue -Tinted hydrating gel cream

what Bare minerals say :

A multi-tasking genius that combines skincare benefits and naturally radiant coverage in one. The best of a BB, a CC, and a tinted moisturiser...with a 215% increase in skin hydration after just one week,* this is a whole new way to think about makeup.

Why I use it?

It is a beauty for ladies who love the look of their natural skin, I can use it on flower girls up to mothers of the bride. I usually mix colours to suit fake tans etc it photographs beautifully and your skin literally looks lit from within for combination skins like myself I would top up the t-zone with a loose mineral foundation for extra coverage/shine control as it does have quite the dewy finish.

Whenever I wear this myself people always compliment my skin (not my make up) So that for me is a result!

I love skin to look like skin even with the heaviest of foundations I attempt to get the reality of skin back, there is nothing worse than that foundation mask. not a fan.

Next up Bare minerals original loose foundation

What they say?

Our original SPF 15 foundation gives you all the flawless coverage you want with a naturally luminous finish that won't clump or cake. It's proven to improve the appearance of your skin over time. The creamy minerals diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles without drying out your skin. Its silky, soft texture looks like a powder, but feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully. Made with only the purest, highest quality ingredients.

Why I use it:

For women who don't wear make up, for women who don't like the feel of make up, for younger clients with problematic skin bare minerals is the answer! From a natural wash of colour to full coverage they are so versatile you just need to learn how to use them properly, I think a lot of people misunderstand mineral make up and run a mile from it.

I used to work for bare minerals so they do have a special place in my heart I 100% believe in the power of minerals and the benefits of using them on your skin, in fact I reckon I should still be on commission for the brand as I send people to bare minerals suppliers every day!

Next up for light weight coverage suited to an oilier complexion is one of my all time favourites

Chanel perfection lumiere velvet

What Chanel Says?

PERFECTION LUMIÈRE VELVET is a lightweight second-skin foundation. It naturally smoothes and evens out the complexion for a velvety matte makeup result.
The lightweight texture of PERFECTION LUMIÈRE VELVET makes it perfect for normal and combination to oily skin. This ultra-soft emulsion instantly becomes one with the skin, transforming into a natural powdery matte finish that disappears onto the skin.

Why I use it

For ladies who like a light weight to medium coverage with a natural skin like finish, it photographs amazingly and stays put all day.

Shisedio Synchro Skin

What Sheisedo say about it?

Achieve a naturally flawless complexion with Shiseido's Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation SPF20, an oil-free foundation with medium, buildable coverage and a natural matt finish.

Working to even and unify your complexion with an airy, undetectable finish, the long-wearing foundation glides effortlessly over skin and utilises Advanced Sensing Technology that responds and synchronises with your skin's condition to inspire beautifully perfected, second-skin results. Helping to maintain skin's clarity whilst preventing shine, fading and creasing, the intelligent foundation is enriched with SPF 20 to safeguard from UV rays, and combines extracts of Mother of Thyme and St. John's Wort to soften and protect the skin.

Expect a flawless complexion without cakiness.

Why I love it:

Long lasting, photogenic, weightless and full coverage great for all skin types, great for oilier complexion. I use this on ladies who love full coverage and are always amazed that they can't feel it on the skin but the complexion is flawless.

Mac Studio Fix

What Mac Says?

A modern foundation that combines a natural matte finish and medium to full build able coverage with broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15/PA++ protection. Applies, builds and blends easily and evenly. Comfortable and long-wearing, it helps minimize the appearance of pores and imperfections, giving skin a smoother, more flawless look and finish.

Why I use it?

I use this solely on Mac studio fix wearers as they love the finish and the coverage, not a major fan myself but I do see the allure of it when photographed. It is FULL coverage you can sheer it out mixing with moisturiser or a more light weight foundation but for ladies who crave coverage and lasting power this is the one. It has quite a glowy finish, I wouldn't describe the finish as matte at all.

Post to be continued, heading into an afternoon of bridal trials!! I will be back with more on this topic I have another five or six foundations to tell you about
